Department Manager, Community and Early Childhood Education

At Box Hill Institute, we’re passionate about changing lives through education. We’re now looking for an experienced Department Manager to lead our Community & Early Childhood programs within the Faculty of Health, Community & Animals.

This is a senior leadership role where you’ll shape teaching excellence, inspire high-performing teams, and ensure sustainable, quality vocational education that delivers real outcomes for students and industry.

About the Role

As Department Manager - Community & Early Childhood, you’ll lead the delivery of high-quality vocational education that changes lives. This senior leadership role is responsible for driving educational excellence, compliance, and performance across programs while leading, coaching and inspiring a diverse team of educators and professionals. You’ll work closely with industry, community and internal partners to ensure sustainable growth, strong student outcomes and a future-focused learning experience.

What you’ll bring

• Degree or AQF Level 6+ qualification in Vocational Education
• Discipline qualification in Community Services, Mental Health, Early Childhood Education, Education Support or related field
• Current training & assessment credentials meeting VET regulatory requirements
• Extensive Demonstrated leadership experience within VET / education environments
• Working knowledge of VET compliance frameworks (SRTOs, VRQA, ESOS where applicable
• Strong understanding of VET compliance, quality frameworks and student outcomes
• Strong Confidence managing people, performance, budgets and complexity
• A collaborative, values-led leadership style with strong stakeholder skills
